The Right Clothes for the Right track

Cycling requires a great deal of discipline, strength and focus. However, it also calls for the right set of cycling apparel for a safe and comfortable ride. In fact, different cycling tracks entail different types of clothing.

Road Cycling:
The most basic of cycling wear such as the right shirt and shorts should be worn in this type of cycling. Shorts should be made from lycra and they must come with a padding. This protects you from painful saddle rubs. Professional road cyclists must place the name of their sponsor somewhere visible in their cycling shirts – sleeves or the back.

Track Cycling:
Track Cycling calls for a one piece skin suit made from Lycra. It should also have pads in the seat of the shorts. Wearing a one piece suit avoids any form of distraction or discomfort to the rider. Mitts must also be worn to protect the cyclist from falls. It also allows cyclists to get a good grip of the handlebars for difficult stunts/tracks.

Cross Country Mountain Biking:
They have the same cycling gear as that of a road cyclist but since mountain tracks are often muddy and wet, waterproof jackets always come in handy. A good set of mountain bike shoes allow the cyclist to pedal accurately.

Downhill Cycling:
This is an extreme type of cycling thus it calls for extreme cycling wears too. Aside from the padding on the seats of their shorts, they should also have padding all over their bodies. The right cycling helmet protects the cyclist from any fall or accidents that may occur. Extreme safety and precaution must also be at all times observed.

Suprising a Cyclist

My friend’s birthday is coming up and I wanted to give her a one-of-a-kind gift that will surely surprise the wits out of her. It was quite a challenge. It’s a little difficult to find the perfect gift for someone as athletic and adventurous as she is. She loves sports and I figured I needed to give her something related to her favorite sports: Cycling.

I’ve thought of getting her some cycling apparel. It’s useful and she’ll love it. I searched the internet for special limited editions of cycling shirts. Then again, she already has tons of shirts and shorts. Her entire cycling wear is more than complete. So this idea was crashed out of the list.

Then an idea struck me. In cycling, she gets so caught up in the moment that she fails to see the beauty and the amazing girl behind the wheels. She’s so intent on keeping up and staying in focus that she doesn’t get to see where she’s been. The perfect gift was just about to be made: Cycling Posters.

I took out photos that captured her cycling moments, the breathtaking views taken while they were on the move and the exciting adventures she’s been to. I created a huge poster and put together all pictures to create one big collage. The end result showed a strong woman who explores the world, faces adventures head on and loves life.

She loved the gift and was left in awe. She couldn’t believe she had been to so many places. It was like a refresher to her. Knowing she loved it was worth all the effort. Now, her cycling gear is beyond complete.
